The large cast of this series contains several actors that the audience
will know from their previous work. For the producers, this means a
little instant recognition. The audience might give this series a chance
based on the actor's high "Q" ratings, or level of recognition
each actor has with the average television viewer. (Yes, they study
that.) The down side of that will come when these same people try to
rise out of the ensemble cast to become the stars of the series. This
drama is already about thoughtless, selfish, mean, rich people. How far
of a stretch is it to think that the producers of this series could
quickly be dealing with a few personality issues off camera to match
those they will be portraying on camera. What do you think?

(September 20th -
Editor) There
has been a lot of talk in the media expressing concern for the safety of
the children in this reality series. The dialogue that comes out of that
could be educational for a lot of parents and a lot of kids as they both
decide what things kids should be allowed to do and at what age. My
understanding is that there were a few issues during the taping of this
series that caused some concern, but nothing really serious. What do you
think?

As I wait for the first episode to begin, I am certain that the
producers have planned something big as a publicity stunt for this
15th version of the game. Something big enough to get the audience and
the press buzzing about the show once again.
We already know the number of players is returning to the usual 16, so
it will be something else. We also know that during the first episode,
the players will travel
to Jiangxi province in China after a stop in Shanghai to witness a
Buddhist ceremony in HuangPu Mountain's Mi Tuo Temple. I'm expecting
the opening episode to be visually stunning, as all previous versions
of Survivor have delivered great photography and great sound. I'm sure the Chinese government is eager to present their country
in a positive light so that they can maximize tourist traffic to the
2008 Summer Olympics. What do you think?

I wonder if Primetime television is ready for an ensemble drama that
gives viewers as much of a taste of the Cuban underworld as The Sopranos brought to
the small screen, on cable. I think the pilot episode went too far
when the star of the series, played by Jimmy Smits, ordered the
killing of a rival family's hit man. Now there are no good guys. What
do you think?
